- Objective:
The exemption policy for the Executive MBA in Project and Supply Chain Management program aims to acknowledge the prior academic and professional qualifications of students and provide opportunities for them to progress efficiently through the program. Exemptions may be granted for specific courses or program requirements when the applicant can demonstrate competency in the subject matter.
- General Principles:
2.1. Exemptions are granted based on the principle that the applicant’s prior education, training, or professional experience is equivalent to the content and learning outcomes of the course or requirement for which exemption is sought.
2.2. Exemptions are granted for core modules, including foundational courses or modules that are essential for meeting program-level learning outcomes. Moreover, exemptions may be considered for elective modules.
- Eligibility for Exemptions:
3.1. Applicants eligible for exemptions include both incoming students and current program enrolees who can demonstrate that they meet the criteria outlined in this policy.
3.2. To be eligible for an exemption, applicants must provide supporting documentation that clearly indicates the equivalence of their prior qualifications or experience to the specific course or requirement for which exemption is sought.
- Application Procedure:
4.1. Applicants must formally request an exemption by submitting a written application to the program administration.
The application should include the following:
- A cover letter explaining the request for exemption.
- Transcripts or certificates attesting to the prior education or training.
- Relevant professional qualifications or work experience documentation.
- A letter of reference from current and previous employers
- Any additional information that supports the request.
4.2. The program administration will review the application and determine whether the exemption is warranted based on the evidence provided.
- Assessment and Decision:
5.1. The program administration will assess each exemption request based on the following criteria:
- The relevance and equivalency of prior education, training, or experience to the course or requirement.
- The recency of prior qualifications (e.g., if a course was completed over 10 years ago).
- The quality and reputation of the institution or program where prior qualifications were earned.
- Any additional factors relevant to the request.
5.2. The program administration will communicate the decision to the applicant, along with any conditions or requirements for the exemption.
- Conditions and Limitations:
6.1. Exemptions, if granted, may be subject to conditions, such as completing a comprehensive examination or successfully completing one or more advanced or elective course.
6.2. The number of exemptions granted to an individual student is typically limited to a maximum of all core courses/modules and 2 core modules, excepting the Capstone project and should not compromise the integrity of the program or its learning outcomes.
- Appeals:
7.1. Applicants have the right to appeal a decision regarding an exemption request. The appeal process should be in accordance with the institution’s policies and procedures.
- Transparency and Documentation:
8.1. All exemption decisions and conditions are documented and maintained as part of the student’s academic record.
8.2. The exemption policy, criteria, and procedures are transparent and readily accessible to all applicants and students.
Teaching Methodology: This course will utilize a combination of teaching methods, including lectures, case studies, group discussions, and guest lectures from industry experts. Students are encouraged to actively participate in class discussions and engage in practical exercises to apply concepts.
